Pyrenee

Pyrénée is a 1998 french feral child graphic novel (bande dessinée) by Regis Loisel and Philippe Sternis, about a girl who is brought up in the mountains of the French Pyrenees by a bear.

When a huge earthquake devastates a town in the French Pyrenees, a bear escapes from a circus in the confusion and later finds a small girl whose mother has been killed in the quake. The bear rescues the girl (and her teddy bear) and raises her as his own cub like a female version of Rudyard Kipling's Mowgli, high in the inaccessible mountains, naming her “Pyrénée” after them (Perhaps not coincidentally, a pyrénée is also a type of fairy). Later on she also learns philosophy and wisdom from a blind old eagle, and eventually - like Mowgli - has to try to make her way back to human society.

Like Mowgli in Kipling's original story, Pyrénée is completely innocent of clothing. Her nudity does prove to be a serious disadvantage on one occasion when she is attacked by bees and ants, and she is reliant on the bear's warmth for survival in winter. When she temporarily leaves the bear one winter and lives with the eagle in a cave, the eagle teaches her how to wear a fur coat and boots that the cave's former human occupant has left behind. However, she only wears this clothing from necessity and not modesty, and discards it as soon as the weather turns warm again.

Ok I'm gonna decline what I said above now that I have finished reading all 6 books it's definitely not boring some of the jokes are not the funniest but it's one really entertaining story.

Albion (Complete Series)

Albion is a six-issue comic book limited series plotted by Alan Moore, written by his daughter Leah Moore and her husband John Reppion, with covers by Dave Gibbons and art by Shane Oakley and George Freeman.

The story revolves around a modern-day Britain where comic book characters have turned out to really exist. The British public had been largely unaware of their existence throughout the '60s and '70s, thinking them to be fictional.

Most of the IPC heroes are now interned within an asylum (comparisons are drawn with Camp X-Ray), and the daughter of one of the inmates - who calls herself Penny is determined to reveal their existence to the larger public. Using a similar narrative device to that which Alan Moore employed in Supreme and Tom Strong, flashbacks are related in the style of comics of yesteryear. Therefore, Penny Dreadful's childhood is drawn in a style similar to Dennis the Menace or the Bash Street Kids.

Batman vs Predator (Complete)

Batman versus Predator is a comic book crossover featuring a duel between Batman and the creature from the Predator film. It was written by Dave Gibbons, with art by Andy Kubert and published by Dark Horse Comics in 1991. This story is separate from either series canon. In 1995, a sequel was published called Batman versus Predator II: Bloodmatch. It was written by Doug Moench, with art by Paul Gulacy and Terry Austin. In this one, Batman gets help from Huntress in taking down the Predator. A third series, Batman versus Predator III: Blood Ties was published in 1997. Written by Chuck Dixon, the story featured a father-son Predator duo taking on Batman and Robin. Mr. Freeze is the only Batman super-villain to have appeared in a Batman versus Predator story in this comic book, though Catwoman makes a brief cameo, and The Joker is mentioned.

Book One

The first book opens with a boxing match in Gotham. Each of the fighters are backed by two of Gotham’s biggest gangsters — Alex Yeager and Leo Brodin. When the winner of the fight is killed in his apartment shortly after the bout, Batman is called in to help investigate the crime. Though accusations are directed against Brodin, the sponsor of the losing fighter, the grisly yet unusual murder (consisting of spine and skull removal) suggest otherwise. Batman’s main goal initially is to avoid a battle on the streets of Gotham between the two mob bosses — the death of the losing boxer only making matters more complicated.
In an attempt to defuse the conflict, the mayor of Gotham arranges a meeting between the two crime lords during which Yeager is murdered by an intruder. Clues lead Batman to the killer's hideout but in a deadly duel he comes close to losing his life to the Predator, who escapes. Batman gets back to Wayne Manor where his butler Alfred sees to his injuries.

Over the next few days, and in the absence of the Dark Knight, the Predator takes out Yeager's manipulative assistant, Brodin and Gotham's current mayor in a series of calculated assaults. Commissioner Gordon himself is almost killed in his own home by the hunter, but escapes. Batman attempts to recover quickly, knowing the death toll rises every day. A countdown is initiated by the National Guard and SWAT teams: if Batman does not show before the end of the countdown, they plan to flush the Predator out of hiding by searching street by street, a tactic that will likely take more lives than would be saved.
Batman, nowhere near healed yet able to walk, plans one last face-to-face match with the Predator, using a specially-designed powered sonar exoskeleton suit to increase his strength and compensate for his recovering blindness and the Predator's stealth technology. The battle begins on the roof of the Gotham City Police Department, continues in the Batcave and ends on the outskirts of Wayne Manor. Batman finally defeats the Predator just as its ship lands, with others of its kind disembarking. The defeated Predator honorably commits suicide with a sword which the Predator commander then presents to Batman before leaving. Batman is confident that the Predators will not return after having met what lives in Gotham.

Book Two

The story opens after a successful apprehension of a criminal during a drug-related homicide by Batman — unwillingly aided by the Huntress. The criminal reveals that his boss, a crime lord named Terraro, has put a price on Batman's head — the Huntress begins her own hunt for potential assassins. Shortly after the capture, a strange, luminous object (reported to be a meteorite) lands beyond the Gotham River. A lone marksman attempts to make a shot at Batman as he patrols the streets, but is killed by an invisible creature. The victim is one of seven hired assassins tasked with tracking and killing Batman. The creature kills several police officers at the police station, injuring others including Police Commissioner Gordon before retreating with the Bat-Signal. After investigating a crime scene where two of Terraro's associates were killed and the Huntress knocked out (and immediately assessing that this is the work of yet another Predator), Batman follows the signal's direction beyond the city limits.

Batman is ambushed by the creature, only to be saved by the timely arrival of the Huntress. Another of Terraro's assassins is eliminated by the Predator when he tries to steal the kill during the fight. Now informed on the creature's identity, the Huntress follows leads on Terraro, avoiding two assassins that kill each other accidentally. The FBI arrive, revealing plans to set up a specialized strike force to kill the creature quickly. Batman and the Huntress both confront Terraro himself, but all are attacked, and Terraro is murdered in his own loft. Another of Terraro's assassins is apprehended afterward. Batman tracks the alien, only to find the Predator dead; stranger still, it's not the same Predator, and its own head has been taken. When another Predator retrieves his fallen comrade in plain sight of him, Batman deduces that these two are not tracking him, but rather the Predator rampaging through Gotham, who seems to have no qualms in killing members of its own species. After disabling one of two of Terraro's remaining assassins, Batman regroups with Commissioner Gordon, now aided by the FBI. They plan to use the Bat-Signal to lure the creature into the open, where they can assault it. The attempt fails: both federal agents are killed, a non-threatening Predator is mistaken for the real killer and is injured (perhaps dying), and one of the team, Lt. Stocker, is captured by the true killer and taken hostage. Batman and the Huntress track it back to the ship, followed by the last of Terraro's assassins, who is also murdered by the beast. It overpowers the both of them, but Lt. Stocker sacrifices his life impaling the Predator with its own spear, though the creature lives long enough to activate the ship's engines. As Batman and the Huntress escape the fleeing vessel, another ship appears and follows, opening fire on the vessel and destroying both ships. The book ends with the Bat-Signal lighting up again, signaling trouble from the Joker — a relative relief to the other-worldly troubles.

Book Three

Gotham, suffering yet again from sweltering temperatures and increased gang warfare, finds itself with more mysterious deaths. Aided now by his ward, Robin, Batman worries that this may be yet another series of hunts by the brutal Predator aliens — yet refuses to disclose this to his partner, which only serves to irk Robin.

Indeed, not one, but two beasts are prowling in Gotham: an elder creature who seems to tell stories of previous hunts to his younger partner. Gotham's criminal population continues unaware of the visitors, until Mr. Freeze and his associates are attacked by the two cloaked Predators. Though all of the surrounding underlings are killed, Freeze is left alive. Despite Robin's questions about the bizarre attacks, Batman does not reveal anything more than what Robin has already overheard, though he agrees to let Robin aid him until Freeze is found. Batman later confides to Alfred that he's keeping Robin at distance to prevent the boy from becoming another Predator mark. Batman attacks one of the aliens with a "stolen" helicopter with many technological advances (the craft actually belonged to Wayne Technologies), inadvertently saving Catwoman's life in the process, only to discover the second Predator, too late to prevent the copter from being destroyed, though he's able to eject. Meanwhile, Robin learns many of the details during his computer research on the previous "hunts" through confidential government files, after taking advice from Barbara Gordon (under the alias "Oracle"). He also successfully tracks down Mr. Freeze and subdues him. When questioned, Freeze reveals the creatures didn't seem to have even seen him. With Freeze now in custody, Batman orders Robin to lie low, further aggravating the youth. Bruce manipulates WayneTech into closing down for 24 hours to provide a battleground he can control, in an effort to defeat the beasts. He also modifies the powered exosuit he used in his first encounter to mask his body temperature, correctly guessing that the Predator's vision is thermal-based. The plan works, but only lures one of the two. Responding to Batman's confusion, and using Tim Drake's voice, he indicates that it is now tracking Robin — who, ironically, is at a drive-in theater with friends, watching old science-fiction alien flicks. Alfred contacts Robin, who immediately accepts the truth when he sees the creature's silhouette and returns to the Bat-Cave. Alfred reveals what little they know of their assailants before they are attacked. The two are nearly caught, until Batman returns, carrying one of the elder Predator's ornaments and telling the younger hunter to cut his losses, take his defeated (and still living) father and return home. When questioned, Batman reveals they were chosen as targets because the Predators saw them as they themselves were: father and son.

Automatic Kafka (Complete)

Automatic Kafka was a nine-issue American comic book written by Joe Casey with art by Ashley Wood. It was published in 2002 by DC Comics in the Wildstorm Universe.

The series followed the life of Automatic Kafka, an android who had been a member of a mass-marketed superhero group called the $tranger$ during the 1980s. After the team breaks up, Kafka is lost, looking for a new direction in life. The comic follows Kafka as he tries different ways of becoming human: drugs, sex and fame among them. The series also visits Kafka's former teammates who each have adapted to their life post-$tranger$ in their own way.

Automatic Kafka was a very experimental comic; Ashley Wood's unique style and Joe Casey's writing made it something between parody, satire and homage. With an abundance of sex, drugs, nudity and violence, avant-garde art, and complex scripts, it only found a small audience.

Girl (Complete)

I read this comic just before making this post and it's still not easy to put it in a few sentences.

First of all comic is a work of Peter Milligan and Duncan Fagredo and it's a about teenage girl Simone and her life in "Bollockstown", how she calls her city.

This is a dark colored kinda post apocalyptic comic filled with black humor and satire. Series contains 3 issues, but every issue contains several connected story. It's for adult public.

Won't say more if you're interested read it yourself. Hope you'll enjoy it :)

Angel and the Ape (Complete)

Angel and the Ape was a humour comic book created by E. Nelson Bridwell published by DC Comics. The characters first appeared in 1968 in Showcase #77 then graduated to their own title, with art by comic artist Bob Oksner, most often inked by Wally Wood. The title lasted for seven issues, changing its name to Meet Angel for its final appearance.

Angel O'Day is a private investigator who manages the O'Day and Simeon Detective Agency with her partner, Sam Simeon. Sam differs from many stereotypical detectives; besides helping Angel, Sam is both a comic book artist and a talking gorilla. Sam's last name is obviously a play on the word "simian" ("of or pertaining to an ape or monkey").

The series has been revived twice. The first was by Phil Foglio in the 1990s, where Angel and the Ape stuck true to its zany roots. In Phil Foglio's 1991 mini-series, Angel is revealed to be the half sister of Dumb Bunny, a member of the super-heroic group the Inferior Five, also created by Bridwell. Sam is changed, too; he is not only employed by "DZ Comics" as an artist, but is also the grandson of Gorilla Grodd, a nemesis of The Flash. As such, Sam has mental powers that he can use to make a limited number of people see him as a human being. However, a break in his concentration allows people to see him in his true form. This is in contrast to the original series, wherein people see Sam's true form but convinced themselves he is simply an unusually ape-like human male, since it is "impossible" for there to be such a thing as a talking gorilla.

A second attempt at a revival was made in early 2001 under DC's Vertigo imprint, with a vastly different take. It was written by Howard Chaykin and David Tischman, with art by Philip Bond.

Foxfire

Foxfire was a fictional character from Marvel Comics’ original Squadron Supreme series. Unlike most of the Squadron’s villains, she does not seem to have a DC Comics counterpart.
Olivia Underwood was born in Nexusville, New Brunswick, in the United States of Earth-712. She later became a criminal and supervillain using the alias Foxfire. She was a member of the Institute of Evil, a criminal organization opposed by the superhero team called the Squadron Supreme. This was complicated somewhat by the fact that Foxfire was in love with Squadron member Doctor Spectrum. However, he seemingly did not return her feelings.

She was among the Institute of Evil members who battled the Squadron Supreme in their final attempt to destroy the heroes. When the Institute of Evil was captured by the Squadron and its members mind controlled by the Behavior Modification device, Foxfire and the other former super-criminals became members of the Squadron, to assist them in their efforts to forcibly turn the world into a Utopia. Her criminal record was pardoned, and she became a public crusader and government superhero. She accompanied Hyperion to supervise the behavior modification process at a prison. She finally later began a relationship with Doctor Spectrum.
However, the hero named Nighthawk opposed the Squadron and formed a rebel group, the Redeemers. He undid the Behavior Modification of Foxfire and several others, and recruited them into his group.
During the final battle between the Redeemers and the Squadron at Squadron City, Foxfire, who was still in love with Doctor Spectrum, tried to gain his approval by betraying Nighthawk, thus allowing the Squadron to win the fight. She used her powers to kill Nighthawk by blasting his heart. Foxfire was then killed by fellow Redeemer Mink, who had been in love with Nighthawk, when she was stabbed through the heart by Mink’s artificial claws. The death of Nighthawk caused the Squadron members to realize that they had become the very thing that they had intended to oppose, and thus ended the fight, though not in the way that Foxfire had intended.
Foxfire has the ability to project some form of bioluminescent energy through her fingertips that could disintegrate matter by breaking its molecular bonds. Her power manifests as a “glow” which she projects from her body, usually from her hands. She needed to touch an object in order to affect it.
Squadron member Tom Thumb designed a special pair of decay-retardant gloves for her to wear, which were immune to her powers.
She received standard Squadron hand to hand combat training.

Elvira's House of Mistery

In 1986-87, DC comics published a new series, Elvira's House of Mystery. It lasted 11 issues plus a special. The series was a quasi-follow up towards the original series, with famed horror movie hostess Elvira tasked by the House with finding Cain, though she spent much of her time making fun of him, introducing horror stories similar to the original series. One issue of this series, #3, was released without Comics Code Approval and contained significant implied nudity, but subsequent editorial comments in later issues stated that the experiment in releasing an unapproved issue was not considered successful.

Battle Chasers is an American fantasy comic book series by Joe Madureira, launched in April 1998. It was one of the most popular comics in the late 1990s, but suffered from extreme scheduling problems, with an average of about six months between issues, including a delay of 16 months for issue #7. Madureira produced a total of nine issues in four years (publishing two to three a year), a pace for which he was criticized.[1] Originally published by WildStorm under its Cliffhanger imprint (founded by Madureira with J. Scott Campbell and Humberto Ramos), the series moved to Image Comics in 2001. The last issue, #9, was published in September 2001 and had a cliffhanger-ending that was never concluded, as #10 (scheduled for November 2001) was never released and Joe Madureira left the comic industry to pursue a career as a video game designer.

The series stars a quintet of main characters, including a nine-year-old girl named Gully, whose father mysteriously vanishes, leaving behind a pair of magical gloves. A pulchritudinous warrior named Red Monika tries to enlist a swordsman haunted by the death of his wife, Garrison, to assist in freeing a prisoner, which Garrison turns down. Red Monika accidentally releases four extremely powerful villains during the breakout. Garrison overcomes his grief and joins Gully, the wizard Gnolan, and the towering war golem Calibretto to stop the villains' rampage.

In a sense, “One Life, Furnished in Early Moorcock” is the quintessential Neil Gaiman short story, combining the two major themes of his body of work: recollections of childhood (Violent Cases, Mr. Punch) and the power of stories (Sandman, Signal to Noise). Originally appearing as prose fiction in the 1994 anthology of Elric stories Tales of the White Wolf, Gaiman’s piece is the tale of an awkward English public school boy named Richard Grey whose relationship to books, especially Michael Moorcock’s Elric series, helps him to endure the traumas of adolescence.

As a prelude to Topps Comics’ forthcoming Elric miniseries, occasional Gaiman-collaborator P. Craig Russell has adapted the story to the comics medium. While the cynic in me suspects Topps would leap at any excuse to plaster Gaiman’s name on a cover and sell more copies (as have Negative Burn, Wiindows, and various Tekno comics), this is one case where Gaiman’s fans will not feel ripped off.

Russell’s adaptation is painstakingly faithful to the source material, preserving most of the original text. A few pages actually seem a bit too text-heavy, but this is a minor flaw in a moving and insightful work. Russell’s characteristically superb drawing and storytelling skills eloquently contrast the drudgery of young Richard’s reality with the flights of fancy that form the basis of his maturing and questioning intellectual life. This is far and away the best Gaiman comic that Gaiman never actually worked on.
